Eminent UK are proud to announce a new major installation in central London. St Michael’s church in Camden (also known as the Parish of Old St Pancras) had a pipe
organ which was in an unplayable condition.
A number of digital organ companies were asked to provide a demonstration instrument. Fr. Michael Thomas, Parish Priest of St Michaels said:
"During the selection process to install a digital organ, we had some very favourable comments regarding the Eminent organ both from musicians and
non-musicians alike. So much so, some have already made up their minds! Certainly the Director of Music and some congregations members felt it sounded much more like a pipe organ than any of the
others they’ve heard."
FR MICHAEL THOMAS, PARISH PRIEST, ST MICHAEL’S
St Michael’s is a beautiful church in the Gothic Revival style, designed by George Frederick Bodley and Thomas Garner, and was constructed in the late 19th
century.
The Parish Priest, Fr Michael Thomas, is a music graduate and organist and has plans to develop music. The church therefore decided on a Cantata III organ – a
significant three-manual motorised drawstop organ with a double computing module and sixteen channels of sound. The Eminent organ was installed into the case of the pipe organ in April
2018.
The acoustic at St Michael’s is rather special because of the scale and shape of the building. The organ will continue to be voiced over the next few months to
ensure it speaks optimally in this generous acoustic, ensuring that a genuine pipe organ sound is produced.
The organ is aesthetically beautiful and capable of great power, clarity and style needed for this church. Fr Michael Thomas has said that organists who wish to
try an Eminent installation are very welcome to do so.
